THE POETIC WORLDVIEW OF THE AUTHOR: METAPHORICAL REPERTOIR AS A MEANS OF TRANSLATIONAL INTERPRETATION

Abstract. According to modern linguistic studies, a poetic text represents the multifaceted and complex nature of the author’s creative thought. Therefore, the formation of the concept of the author’s poetic worldview is determined by the polyphony of approaches to the study of this linguistic phenomenon. The exploration of figurative modeling of reality through a comprehensive analysis of linguistic signs facilitates a deeper understanding of the author’s original intent. This approach illuminates the cognitive and cultural constructs that shape author’s representation of reality thereby assuming particular significance in the context of reconstructing a poetic text within the system of another linguistic culture, which forms the basis for further work with the text at the stage of pre-translational analysis. The present study advocates for the application of the interpretive repertoire methodology, as articulated by J. Potter and M. Weatherell, in the pre-translation discourse analysis of Bair Dugarov’s poetic texts. This psycholinguistic approach facilitates a nuanced understanding of the author’s conceptual worldview by enabling the identification and analysis of conceptual metaphors. By examining these interpretive repertoires, researchers can elucidate the cognitive frameworks and cultural narratives that underpin the author’s linguistic choices, thereby enhancing the translation process through a deeper comprehension of the source text’s meaning and implications.
