RIGIDITY AND STYLE OF THINKING OF STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITALIZATION

Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of rigidity and style of thinking of students of various fields and courses in the context of digitalization of everyday life. The paper reflects the ideas of domestic and foreign authors about the problem of digitalization and the subject of thinking and its features. The study was conducted using the following methods: “Rigidity Questionnaire” by A.G. Shmelev, the questionnaire “Styles of Thinking” by R. Bramson adapted by A.A. Alekseev, as well as a specially designed questionnaire to obtain data on respondents’ involvement in digital space and computer technologies. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the majority of respondents were faced with the introduction of digitalization in the educational and professional spheres and highly appreciate the need for digital technologies in their daily lives, also most of the respondents have an analytical style of thinking, which in turn may be due to immersion in the digital environment, the patterns of work in which consist in algorithms, orderliness schemes. In addition, a relationship was found between mental rigidity and the time of daily use of digital technologies, in other words, than more an individual spends time using computer technology, the more rigid his psyche is. There is also a negative relationship between the rigidity of the psyche and the ability of synthetic thinking, then it can be assumed that the development of the ability to think synthetically hinders the development of rigidity and contributes to the lability of thinking.

Keywords: digitalization, technology, style of thinking, rigidity, lability.
