THE ROLE OF LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION IN CRISIS RESOLUTION

Abstract. The article examines the role of language communication in a resolution of various conflicts and crises. The author of the article emphasizes the point of view that the verbal communicative act is an important communication channel that is used by participants during the act of negotiation in order to reduce confrontation, manage the crisis and resolve the conflict. The article also describes the role of the development of shared code by participants in the negotiation process. On the basis of the conducted research the author of the article comes to the conclusion about the importance of understanding the evaluative component in the communicative message sent to the recipient. In addition, the article also examines the role of the basic needs and value systems of participants in language communication in a resolution of various crises and conflicts. Based on the research, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that the knowledge of the basic needs and value systems of both the addressant and the recipient of information, helps to reduce various complications during negotiations, including those aimed at resolving crises and conflicts. Different evaluation methods are used in the study, for instance, method for identifying markers of dialogicity, contextual situational analysis, discourse analysis, and component analysis.
